Monday, September 6. What do the contents of the quotes (Malachi 3:1 and Isaiah 40:3) teach about the coming One?

Tuesday, September 7. Why is John's ministry so popular?

Wednesday, September 8. What does John's clothing and diet say about him? (See 2 Kings 1:8 and Malachi 4:5.)

Thursday, September 9. Given John's message, what type of person is the crowd anticipating? (See Isaiah 32:15–20.) How do these expectations account for the crowd’s reception of John, despite his hard message?

Friday, September 10. What do you think the dove and the voice meant to Jesus as He came out of the water? As He entered the desert? During His temptations?

Saturday, September 11. How do you think the dove and voice and the experiences of Jesus you focused on yesterday helped to prepare Him?

Sunday, September 12. What do verses 14–20 have to do with preparation? Are you prepared to follow this Son of Man?
