February 6 to February 12, 2012
Monday,February 6. Read Psalm 104:14-15, 27–28. Do you think parents take pleasure in the pleasure of their children? Do you think God delights when you delight?
Tuesday,February 7. Read Proverbs 21:17,14:13, 10:28. Why does the Scripture seem to paint such different pictures about pleasure? Is pleasure sinful? What is the connection between pleasure and passion?
Wednesday, February 8. Read 1 Kings 8:65–66. Why aren't Christians better known for their celebration of life? Is this "party-stuff" just Old Testament? Was Jesus a party-goer and party-thrower? What does that mean for those who follow Him?
Thursday,February 9. Read Titus 1:15. What does this verse indicate to you? Does it have anything to do with Jesus' warning to the Pharisees about impurity coming from inside and not from outside a man?
Friday,February 10. Read John 10:10. In Jesus the Christ, the sacred and the secular have met until all is potentially sacred. Have you limited this verse of Scripture to the spiritual realm or do you see it as applying to all of life? What do you think Jesus means when he speaks of having life to the full?
Saturday,February 11. Read 2 Corinthians 10:23–11:1. Do you believe verse 31 applies to pleasure as well as sacrifice?
Sunday, February 12. Read Matthew 6:25–34. What would happen in our lives if we accepted both pleasure and pain in the spirit of verse 33? What would our stewardship look like if we did?
