You
have made us for Yourself, and our souls are restless
until they rest in you. That’s how St. Augustine
put it.
The Westminster Confession said it like this: The
chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
It is our nature to worship. Unfortunately, our brokenness
is shown in our worship of the wrong things. Wholeness
is found when we give God the honor He is due. God receives
honor when His Son is honored. The Bible says that when
Jesus is lifted up, He draws people to Himself. As we
are sensitive to His Spirit, His wholeness becomes ours
and God is glorified.
